Food logging app-Usability Testing and Design Iteration

Background summary:

We need to introduce a new “Me” page and retire the “More” page. There will be some new features introduced and also existing features migrated to a different page.

Testing purpose:

-To find out if the design changes are intuitive to our users

-To discover how much guidance the users need to adopt these upcoming changes.

My role:

-Making prototypes for testing

-Conducting the usability testing sessions with users

-Sharing findings with the product, design, and marketing team

-Iterating on designs

Tools:

Lookback

Participants:

7 users in total, 3 male users and 4 female users, recruited globally

Key findings:

  • Users who go to the “weight” page regularly are not satisfied with weight being moved one level down and showed confusion during the testing

  • Users don’t think the location of “settings” is intuitive enough because they always associate with “settings” being on the corner or being represented by the gear icon

  • Users couldn’t easily find the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) because RDI is not about the app settings.

Iteration:

Use a tool tip to show that “weight” is living under “Me” page for the first two weeks of feature migration

Locate “settings” on the top right, next to the profile photo, and add a gear icon to improve the visual presentation of “settings”

Move RDI one level up to live directly under “Me”
